2009 running fast, 2010 overtaking soon

So? What have you done in 2009? Anything significant? Just another year?

This year, with weddings and what nots, I nearly maxed out my cards! but with some creative credit restructuring,  my card balance down to almost RM0.00 now !  I now need to make sure that I control swiping my cards from 2010 and  keep the balance down to minimum by paying more that minimum required. So looks like this is New Year's resolution #1.

Something new? Yes, I am learning a new language - Arabic.  Am so proud of myself.  I should start a list of new year's resolution, whether I like it or not, I think I should. With #1 done, let's start with the next.. ok, let me go sleep on this and make my list tomorrow !

Its Princess & the Frog today...

We managed to get tickets for Princess & the Frogs today. At the Tropicana, our current fav movie outlet. My ticket is on GSC, complimentary, FOC, RM0.00. Since signing up as GSC member a couple of years ago, I get one free movie on my birthday month. You get to claim movies with * only. This year, I got Princess & the Frog. Happy for getting one free ticket (going to the movies nowadays is NOT cheap okay), happier still since it was such a wonderful upbeat movie, not your typical Disney princess but a 'princess' nevertheless. The songs were so great, jazzy of course since the movie is set in the Big Easy.  My fav character in the movie? Louis the Aligator. He is so Baloo the Bear in Jungle Book. Bubbly, Lovable, Cute...

To date this month, I've seen, 1. The Storm Warriors, 2. Zombieland, 3. Avatar 3D, 4. Princess & the Frog. I've bought tickets for movie #5 tomorrow..... Sherlock Holmes. Next change? Vampire Assistance. Another movie that just caught my eyes today - My Lovely Bones. But then, maybe I'll just go get the book?

more mehdi/inai work

Mehdi, Inai & such

I love doing this. I've done this for quite a number of nieces who got married for the past few years. Since I'm new to this, my mehdi work are nothing intricate. Its simple, much more malay in style and the feel of it. Nothing elaborate, I like clean lines, curves, swiggles 'cos right now, these are what I'm really good at. See for yourself.

These were my latest work. I will publish more of my henna handyworks later. I need to get some sleep and my dearest is tired of being ignored !

Tajweed today

Once a week we have Tajweed class in the office.  After office of course, just for an hour.  This is actually the 4th of such classes that I can remember, in the last many many years.  The first class was arranged privately by a group of ppl.  I didn't join, so I don't know how long it lasted.  Then there was a class several years back, I didn't join either because I was at that time going for Quran reading classes at UIA PJ. (UIA have classes for adults, open to public. I guess its also a way for their lecturers to earn extra money and for the uni to offer community service to the public. Billable courses though.)  Anyway, that lasted for may be a year, may be less.  A few years ago, the company started its own Islamic Club that organizes a number of activities regularly. One activity is basic quranic classes, taught by one of our own colleague voluntarily... but then, he resigned !  Hahaha, there goes our classes again.

Today is our 3rd Tajweed class since it was introduced early December 2009.  Supposed to start it November but then it rain heavily every evening and the Ustaz who rides a motorcycle had to cancel! Such a rocky and challenging start. Good thing doesn't come easy.... Anyway, God willing, 1st class finally got started on Dec 10 and is being taught by a very capable Ustaz, the same who is teaching us the Arabic class. In the beginning there were more that a dozen of us, today only 6 turned up. I'm hoping that this is because of the holidays, long weekends, year end and all. But small numbers means we get more attention from Ustaz, which we definitely got from him today.  Individual attention received, got to recite extra surah, Ustaz answered a quite a number of questions and its satisfaction all around. It was a very good class.

Learning Arabic تعلم اللغة العربية

I've always wanted to be able to converse in arabic... The opportunity came when my office offers this once a week for about an hour with an ustaz. Ustaz teaching method? Macam orang dulu-dulu ajar anak berenang, they just push the kids into the river and you quickly learn at least to dog paddle in order not to drown! Macam tu lah ustaz buat. So is this working?  Hmm I'm still dog paddling in the water but yesterday was our 3rd class and I missed the 1st (of course)... I think I'm starting to understand Lesson1. ما هذا ، هذا دفتر (what is this? this is a book).  I'm so clever !

Starting point

Actually nak buat benda lain, tapi tercreate blog plak ! How mah? But anyway, let's begin a new year with a blog... lets see how long this will lasts. Now must think of what I want to blog about.
